Education

NPO provides valuable educational opportunities to physicians and their administrative staff. The ultimate goal is to provide these programs as a benefit to NPO membership. These sessions will focus on topics that directly relate to the management of private medical practices, with particular focus on regulatory issues and current threats that arise in the health care environment.

I firmly believe that NPO is positioned for readiness. We are ready for the federal regulations that come our way. We are ready to adapt to change in the health care environment. And, we are ready to take on projects of interest to our members. Please let us know how we can provide even more valuable resources to you, our dues-paying members……

Gail Eminhizer,
TC PAAC Chair

Although there are other health administration related educational opportunities available in the community, many are sponsored by insurance companies and are geared toward billing, coding or general process issues specific to that particular insurance product. Physician educational opportunities are available at the area hospitals allowing for continuing medical education credits (CME’s), however most of those programs are medical in nature rather than legal or administrative. NPO’s programs provide opportunities for physicians and their administrators, up-to-the-minute information on topics of importance in the health care environment. These programs are on the caliber of ones found at national specialty conventions, however will be presented locally and at no cost to our membership.

The educational programs are overseen and monitored by the Practice Administrators Advisory Committee (PAAC) Chairpersons. They oversee program development, secure sites and videoconferencing (if appropriate) and develop committees to carry out the initiative. This group reports directly to the NPO Executive Committee and/or the NPO Board of Directors. Topics for consideration are the responsibility of the NPO Board of Directors and the PAAC committees.

The focus of NPO has changed and a commitment to high quality benefits for its physician members is primary.

The education initiative fills a gap in the area of health education in Northern Michigan. The first seminar/vendor fair was a success from many standpoints. Attendee satisfaction was extremely high. Vendor satisfaction was also high. This initiative is exactly the type of benefit NPO members are seeking.
